Madeira International Workshop in Machine Learning 2021
OVERVIEW
This 4-day workshop is designed to show you the basic steps needed to start a Machine Learning project. On the first day, you will have an introduction to Python and see how to create neural networks in scikit-learn and TensorFlow. In the following days, you will gain some experience with image processing, convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and long short-term memory (LSTMs) networks. To wrap up the workshop, you will deploy a model to be used in a mobile app.
VISION
This workshop is designed to show the basic steps needed to start Machine Learning with Python. At the same time, it also serves for sharing the knowledge with a beginner by showing the steps and tools related to the field.
The planned sessions include both theoretical lectures as well as practical sessions, given by researchers with experience in Machine Learning applications.
WHO IS THIS EVENT FOR?
Basically, for researchers, students, industry practitioners and other people interested in the topic. You must, however, have some knowledge of programming, with preferably hands-on experience in Python. No deep previous knowledge of Machine Learning is required; however, if you have some experience in the area, that’s even better.
REGISTRATION FEES
There are two registration fees:
- Regular registration — 60 € (50 € for early registration).
- Student (student card required) — 30 € (25 € for early registration)
Registration can be done at the following link:
https://forms.gle/zYuGvphYYwzntSm16
Early registration will end on July 12.
Both types of registration will provide access to all the files and presentations used during the workshop.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING WITH ME?
Just bring a computer with the peripherals that you use on a normal day. We will ask you to have some software pre-installed on your computer for the workshop. This information will be sent to your email a few days before the workshop.
We will also provide you with a free wireless connection.
LANGUAGE
The workshop and its contents will be given in English. However, if you don’t feel comfortable asking questions in English, you can ask the question in Portuguese that our Portuguese team members will translate the question for you.
WHERE DOES THE EVENT TAKE PLACE?
The event will take place in Madeira Tecnopolo (Caminho da Penteada), floor -1, at Ursa Menor 2 room. On the first day of the event, we will have signs inside of the building indicating the location of the room.
Here is the map to help you reach to Madeira Tecnopolo:
Around the building, there are car and motorcycle parking areas. However, if you plan to go by bus, these are the route numbers with bus stops nearby Madeira Tecnopólo: 12, 13, 17 and 42.
